Perth - of new parents, parkruns and playgrounds

When the call came that the new grandson had arrived, we left Wongan Hills and made our way to Perth to meet the new little man. We booked into a caravan park for three weeks. It was lovely to have the family time with our son, daughter-in-love, granddaughter and new grandson. Nanna had lots of cuddles of the new little man which did my heart good! Pa waited patiently, but did play lots of imaginative games with the four year old while waiting. Our time with both the parents was definitely a precious three week interlude in our journey. We enjoyed a couple of evenings eating out together, as well as family time with our daughter-in-love's wider family.

Saturday mornings were, of course, spent at parkrun and we experienced three new ones: Claisebrook Cove, Shipwreck and Champion Lakes. Of these, Shipwreck would have to be my favourite but they were all interesting. Claisebrook Cove runs along the Swan River and around the Cove, Shipwreck is a double out and back run in a park with a wonderful playground and Champion Lakes is a 5km around the lake that is the rowing course. Steve, unfortunately, did a hamstring in the fourth kilometre of that last one but he was able to get into a physio and has assiduously done the exercises in order to get back to running as soon as he is able.

The new playgrounds were spent with either just our granddaughter or the whole family. The one that she calls The Purple Park we have visited before but this time it was just with Pa and Nanna as we walked to this playground twice, once to have a pizza party together. The other playgrounds were new to us and enjoyed with the whole family while our son was still on leave. We had a picnic together at Shipwreck Park and enjoyed watching our granddaughter have  the time of her life on the flying foxes, climbing the children's rock wall and playing hide and seek through the large wooden ship structure. Another afternoon  saw us at the Volcano Park and I  am not sure who enjoyed this park the most - the lass or her Pa? They both climbed the structure way above our heads.
How exciting to see the Police horse on our walk

Steve twice took the opportunity of donating plasma while we were in Perth, we did some of the mundane things that always need to be done, we caught up with a couple of friends, went to three different churches and revisited some of our favourite spots. We took lots of walks together too. It really was a pleasant interlude, but after three weeks we again packed up, hitched on and took ourselves south to continue or exploring, but with the promise that we'll be back again.
